POETRY

catch

worrying about worrying

catch in the voice
uneven, the taste
worry rises early
& clatters at the gate

it burns as pilot light
& bastes with sugared-yeast
its sweat is such too slick
to lock the sneck upon this beast

& we’re told to focus off of it
& breathe; but that’s the catch —
‘cause resorting to resorts
re-reroutes another batch
