THE CONTAGION: LAUGHTER

i stepped off the curb into a chortle

taking a moment to escape from chaos to enjoy a chuckle…and passing it on.

i stepped off the curb into a chortle
(mayhap a kind the clams applaud) —
‘twas like a turtle-twisting portal
sucked me from anarchy’s claw.

it tossed me ‘mongst the posies’ fifes
(almost split my abdomen);
it lasted but a mayfly’s life…
but long enough to mirth a friend.
