When things don’t go according to plan, but…

the Martins (Mr. & Mrs.)
had a predilection to build —
in that-there cactus: tall as hope,
with charming columns fit for trill.

but an heiress ‘long its nape
threatened plumule-ownership —
a ssssidewinding deal
with highest bidding at her hiss.

and such the feathers — reinforced —
(un-being fretters of misconstrue)
unearthed an alcove flights away —
unassailable, with river view.
