it was after stressed skies
relinquished its last trickle
and obliged to the exordium
of a rarity in air’s giggle
that I sensed you.

leaves became quieten
and fell into their rhythm
preceding the scattered dusk
that veiled ebullient lissome
salvia in scarlet hue.

i sat on my garden swing;
you landed from balm afar,
a warm coin from heaven
waltzing upon my mason jar,
foot-whispers in its dew.

“where’ve you been?” i asked;
and my memory revived forthwith…
that you — blue-blind — pull overtime
to negotiate with winter’s biff
in every season of overwhelmed blue.

my unpunctual-punctual estival friend!
and ne’er an instant could savvy
my illuming in ambrosial bonhomie
again with iron wings—metallically
in widgiemoolthalite and ormolu.
